(E)scape the Fate

He walked down the aisle alongside her

Immersed in the thought with the burden of that big secret in his heart

Holding her hand and a forced smile on his face

Just before he passed her hand to her fiance

He managed to whisper the big secret in her ear

The fiance was her father’s killer.

  1. Oh! That kind of blows. And unexpected twist. Cruel of him to tell her just before they exchange vows though. Why not before? Why is he telling her now, if he didn’t want to/couldn’t do it before? Is he trying to stop the wedding? Does he hate her? Your poem just made me think and wonder.. which is good.
